The Prince Mahidol Award was
established in 1992 to commemorate
the 100th birthday anniversary of
Prince Mahidol of Songkla, who is
recognized by the Thais as 'The
Father of Modern Medicine and
Public Health of Thailand'.
In celebration of the 15th
anniversary of the Award in 2007,
the Royal Thai Government and the
Prince Mahidol Award Foundation
decided to convene an annual
international conference focusing
on policy-related public health
issues of global significance.
